emily and I spent part of the evening completing photoshop exercises. we pulled from images we’ve posted on the blog and some that we’ve not yet uploaded.

This was our first Carnival event at St John.  It’s held every year around July 4th.  It’s the culmination of a week long celebration on the island-all of the Virgin Islands celebrate carnival, St John is the last.  We went a little overboard with how many images we decided to upload to the gallery, between the two of us it was terribly difficult to narrow them down too much.

Jeff, Emily, Bradford and I went to Maho Bay to test out Jeff’s new coconut grabber contraption.  It worked fairly well.  It was the first time I’d ever experienced fresh coconut and it was gooooooood.  Olly and Cora had to spend most of the day tied to a tree, not everyone on the beach is a dog lover (and technically dogs are forbidden at Maho).  Bradford was kind enough to take the helm of the camera for a few shots.

St John has literally been covered by a rain cloud for the past few days, which makes photographic explorations of the island nearly impossible (unless you have an underwater housing- which I don’t… yet!).   So my Saturday afternoon and evening was spent compositing a number of photos that we’ve taken while being on the island.

Emily and I had a shoot down in Cruz Bay for the St. John Sun Times. Specifically, it was an ad shoot for P&S Water delivery.  Water is a precious/rare commodity here on St John, as there are no natural fresh water sources (save for what falls from the sky). Paris, the owner of the company, also runs a successful car rental business in Cruz Bay.  Emily did a kick ass job shopping it.  Afterward, we stopped by watermelon bay on our way back and took in the scenic sunset.  Emily found a neat piece of driftwood that she decided to carry home with her.

then to mojo cafe,

to see some iguanas.

em and i made the best of a rainy day and the many assorted masks that deborah (the owner of our temporary residence) has in her possession. em also managed to snag some pretty amazing stills of some of our feathered housemates.

What we did this memorial day (that was memorable):

saw way too many penises

Sorry it’s such a small posting this time!

after the wagapalooza event, we walked down to the beach bar to say ‘hi’ to vic and to inquire about a car. still no luck, however vic did offer to let us use his for a few days!

we were approached by John , the front man for Rockfish (the band playing that night), asking us if we wouldn’t mind shooting his band.  up until this point we were deliberating whether or not to call it an early night, but his request swayed us to stay. the Rockfish band hails from coral bay, which is on the eastern side of st john.

we were tired and weren’t fully on our game, but we managed to get some pretty decent ones nonetheless.

olly faired less well, it seems our little impish pooch has an aversion to rastafarians and managed to get himself into a slight altercation.
