driving home from a photoshoot i had to drag myself to (i was pretty tired and hungry – but still managed to get a cute photo of the Archer family) i happened upon this. i’ve not seen a rainbow like this in some time. it made my day.

our fourth day in st john was spent exploring some of the beaches with our new friends curtis and tabitha. there are from washington (state. not dc).  curtis works for fish and wildlife. he is a walking encyclopedia. he also puts man vs. wild to shame.  we ended the day at the beach bar. em, as em typically does, made art.

while on our way back from visiting mega i decided to snap some photos of our car trip.

boston, ma

our first day (bear in mind that we arrived in boston at 1030am of this morning) was spent going through all of emily’s old stuff. the purpose of this adventure was to separate what she wanted to keep with what she was willing to give away.  lynn (emily’s mother), lead us up to the room where it was all stored and oversaw our exploration through the past.

pulling an all nighter and then catching a 530am flight is not an easy task. but obviously we made it there in one piece. whether or not our sanity is still intact… we’ll have to see.

emily and I experimented with some 3d photography techniques after being pointed in that direction by bob caspe (emily’s father). here is our result:

the amazing spinning pineapple!!!

i had emily next to me for the majority of this piece. her and I both agree that it’s not entirely “right”, but I decided to go ahead and declare it completed so I could move on to the next project.  one incarnation of this image had my friend Obin Olson filming the entire scene (complete with his red one camera and two mic’d booms).

i was striving for something balanced, and was hitting many obstacles. the image began with my head on the empty downtown wilmington street. i then added the giant dog, and mechanized him (the satellite dishes were added to create the idea of it being remote controlled).  the left side of the image i struggled with- i decided to add the word that summed up the overall mood of the work and call it quits.
